Dumb Political Leaders – Sarah Palin Addition

The presidential campaign is at the forefront of most American's minds. There are many hats thrown into this arena. The sad part is that most of these hats are dunce caps that serve as waving banners for the dumb things political leaders sometimes do. Mrs. Sarah Palin, our Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, is full of astoundingly dumb things to say during interviews and speeches. There are so many examples of this that it would take a linguistics expert to decipher what she means. It seems as though she is following in the footsteps of her predecessor President Bush, who has been quoted as saying, "They misunderestimated me.". There are just way too many prefixes in that word to even try to define it.

It is understood that all people make mistakes and are bitten by the dumb bug every now and then. However, as one of the possible future leaders of our country, we just expect someone to at least make the effort to sound intelligent. However, dumb things just keep coming out of her mouth. Sarah Palin told the attendants at the Republican convention, "We grow good people in our small towns, with honesty, and sincerity, and dignity." This may seem like a true statement to those that have grown up in rural America. However, Palin was referring to a man that is a self-proclaimed racist and anti-Semitic who wished assassination upon one of our previous presidents. What? Surely, this will make him popular at the next Klan rally, but really not worthy of admiration. Is this the type of person that we are about to elect to the second most powerful position in this nation? The dumb statement warrants questioning her abilities as one of our political leaders.
Sarah Palin also stated that Russia was right next to her state and this is why we should concentrate on foreign policies. Geography must not be her strong suit either. Just as when she said she was glad to visit another part of the country. This was while she was in Pennsylvania. She has also mentioned that she hasn't had any contact with foreign dignitaries, as was the case with all previous vice-presidents. Again, what? None of our previous vice-presidents have talked with foreign leaders? This probably explains World War I and II and Vietnam.

During a recent interview with Katie Couric, Sarah Palin was stumped by the word "mock" and had to be prompted by Mrs. Couric. Good job, Katie! Now if you could just teach her cat, dog, Jane, and Jack she could ultimately teach a Kindergarten class. This is assuming, of course, that there isn't any geography in the curriculum.
